Desert

One of the main characteristics of Deserts is that they are very hot. We have all heard of Death Valley where temperatures above 100 are not uncommon. Did you also know that deserts can be become very cold during the night. It is not uncommon to have 40 degrees in the desert at night. This is because, unlike other biomes, deserts have no humidity to hold in the heat. Another characteristic of deserts is that they are very dry. Deserts usually get less than ten inches of rain per year. These characteristics are very common of our deserts here in the US but there are also over types of deserts around the world. Not only are there hot deserts but there are also cold deserts whose main precipitation comes in the form of snow
