Grading Considerations:

The student who earns an A in the course arrives on time, stays the entire period, and spends the extra  (actually required) three to six hours outside class time each week. This student completes the assigned projects and exhibits the following qualities:

bullet

a) the student is productive (does more than the minimum),

bullet

b) has positive work habits with a determination to improve,

bullet

c) shows a grasp of the basic techniques and vocabulary,

bullet

d) shows a sophistication in degree of technical achievement, (for example: learns to handle the medium and refine techniques),

bullet

e) is willing to attempt new ideas, shows a degree of creativity and is innovative,

bullet

f) is willing to work through ideas and solve problems,

bullet

g) exhibits a sensitivity to the materials and the processes, and

bullet

h) shows an understanding of how inherent qualities are expressed in the finished work,

bullet

i) understands the collaborative nature of the studio and consistently cleans and facillitates the smooth running of the studio.
