Course Description

Over the course of this semester we will look to improve your reading skills in ancient Greek. We will meet once a week for about an hour to translate, discuss the readings, strategies for translating, and finer points of grammar.

Course Goals

By the end of this class, you will 1) have a firmer grasp of Greek grammar ; 2) have an expanded vocabulary; 3) be able to utilize these two factors in reading more complex Greek prose; 4) increase your efficiency in reading Greek prose.

Class Format

You will be expected to spend at least two hours a week preparing for each hour we are in the classroom. What we do in the classroom will depend largely on what you feel you need more help with. You are expected to come to class prepared and ready to participate.

Grade Composition

Your final grade will be determined through participation in class (which includes preparation), a midterm written exam, and an oral final exam. As the semester progresses, additional assignments may be handed out, as need arises. These assignments will contribute to your participation grade.
